Like a character out of a country song, Allen Brown
moved to Nashville from tiny Kemp
Allen is the third generation country artist in his family – his grandfather Arvil Pritchett played harmonica for Ernest Tubb on the Texas circuit for years. “Ernest Tubb wanted my grandfather to move to Nashville with him, but my mother was a baby at the time, so he decided to stay in Texas with his family. My grandfather went to his grave with that unanswered question of ‘what if’? I vowed to him that I would not live with the same unanswered question.” It seems a natural choice for someone who has been singing since the age of five, playing guitar since 10, and singing in front of VFW and regional Opry crowds since 12. The biggest surprise is not that Allen came to Nashville, but that it took him several years and career choices –roughstock rider, rancher, real estate agent, Army National Guard tank gunner – to embrace his true calling. Influenced by country greats such as George Strait, Johnny Paycheck, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and Keith Whitley, and gifted with a charisma that draws in an audience, Allen’s songs pay tribute to country music’s roots while adding a modern flavor that can only be described as “Allen-tude.” Allen has recently completed an album working with noted Hall of Fame songwriter/producer Tommy Barnes (Indian Outlaw, My Love), engineer Kenny Royster, and a team of Nashville veterans. Allen Brown's debut CD, "Foolin' Myself", can be ordered on line at allenbrowncountry.com
