Flash Flanagan's Own Words If I ever had a hero, it has to be
Mickey Newberry. He was the greatest songwriter that ever lived. Mickey Newberry (At Mickey Newberry's Official web site located on the Internet at http://www.mickeynewbury.com, it states "...Mickey Newbury, the most influential and prolific songwriter-singer in Americana. This statement is supported by the abundance of love and respect shared by the many friends, fans and peers for his wondrous songs, and by the ever-increasing array of superb artists who continue to record his timeless, melodically beautiful music. This picture was taken sometimes in the mid or late 90's in front of Houndogs. Pictured from left to right are Walt (a good friend from Tupelo, MS.) - Alan Frizell - Gayle Frizell - Jerry Mac. A Message From Jerry Mac I don't remember exactly what year this
picture was taken, but I will never forget the day. It was one of those
days filled with a lot of fun, enjoying the company of great friends.
Walt came up from Tupelo with Don Hobson. Don had a limo with him, and a
bunch of us piled into that limo and visited a lot of our favorite
hangouts in Nashville. Yep! We all had a few favorite hangouts other
than Houndogs, even though Houndogs was our most favorite. We visited
places like World Famous Barbara's in Printers Alley & The Longhorn
Steak House. Wow! What an unforgettable day& night that turned out

Yes! You are correct! That is Kenny Chesney with Flash in the picture up above. Flash Tells The Story Of Tin Man
Kenny Chesney had just hit Nashville & was
working for tips at The Turf Club on lower Broadway. Kenny was watching
"The Wizard Of Oz" on TV, and came up with the idea of the
song & and started writing the song. David Lowe and Stacey Slate put
the finishing touches on the song, and the rest is history. |
