Lubbock organization to sponsor concerts, luncheon for fund-raiser

The Tourette Syndrome Association Inc. will host two free concerts from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Feb. 21-22 at Stubbs Barbecue Restaurant, Interstate 27 and 19th Street.

Nashville recording artists are the scheduled feature performers, including Doug Supernaw, B.B. Watson, Marty Brown, Razzie Bailey and LisaAnn.

The association is looking for local sponsors to underwrite the fund-raiser, and all underwriters will be listed in a commemorative brochure that will be distributed to the public during the event.

Television station KLBK-TV Channel 11, radio station KRBL-FM 105.7, Stubb's Barbecue Restaurant and Barcelona Court are among the businesses supporting the concert/fund-raiser.

To donate to the nonprofit, Tourette Syndrome Association Inc., mail checks or money orders to: The South Plains Chapter of Tourette Syndrome Association, 3708 96th St., Lubbock 79423. Businesses that donate should include a logo or business card to be published in the brochure.

Proceeds will go to fund a Tourette Syndrome educational campaign in the South Plains, and to support national research projects, according to Lisa Ferguson, promotional director.

A benefit luncheon for the association also is scheduled from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 22 at Four Bar K, 302 E. 82nd St., east of Tahoka Highway.

Guest speaker Shari Davis, psychologist, will talk about tourette syndrome, an incurable, debilitating neurological disorder characterized by tics, involuntary rapid, sudden movements, and/or repeated vocal outbursts.
