San
Bernardino, CA - The Jim Cook Band has had it's first CD album released by TaylorMAC Productions, Holly Records. The CD called "Keeping
It Country" contains twelve songs, all stone country, not the
bubblegum music coming out of Nashville now and euphemistically called
COUNTRY MUSIC.
Jim Cook, who hails from Inez Kentucky, has been
writing and playing country music (the real stuff) since boyhood where
he sang in church. This experience still shows in his music as Jim has
remained a devoutly spiritual man despite the number of years he served as a
deputy sheriff in Kentucky and the episodes he endured while dealing with the
more tawdry aspects of life, arresting bootleggers, ladies of the
night , and crooked gamblers. Jim Cook's songs and his rugged voice
are a perfect compliment to the emotional goals of his songs. He has created his own
band in San Bernardino, California where The Jim Cook Band
performs in various venues including veterans organizations, such as
the American Legion and Veterans Of Foreign Wars. He has had considerable success marketing his albums on such E-net stores as
CDBABY.COM,
This has gotten him into the number one position once and the number
two position twice on the Nashville Independent Rating Charts. You may
contact Jim Cook through his producer Taylor McKinnon; 6144 Orange Knoll Ave.; San Bernardino, Ca, 92404, or TaylorMAC
Productions; PO Box 381; Patton, Ca, 92369, or calling (909)862-3666. Jim
may be seen, heard, and bought on various web sites and record stores.
Search for Jim Cook on CDBABY.com,
or Jetspeedrecords.com,
or Statuerecords.com,
or Towerrecords.com,
or Tricopolisrecords.com.
Other CD albums released by Jim Cook and Taylor McKinnon have been "Everything I Do Turns To
Cash"
and "The Victors". They are available on the aforementioned web
sites. He was described
by a Nashville publisher as more Cash than Cash, but his Merle Haggard
influence is evident.

THE
NORTHWEST GETS A TASTE OF DELTA BLUES

Seattle-based acoustic guitarist, John
Williams smoky, funky, sometimes jazzy
tunes will definitely get under your skin.
Like a wonderful slow-cooked stew left to simmer, John
has slowly but surely saturated the music scene with the release of
three CDs. The first two, released in 1998 and 2000 respectively, are
now available as a compilation entitled, "Hand Picked/Long
Ride Home". The tracks feature an instrumental country/rock
sound similar to guitar virtuoso Danny Gatton or the Hellecasters.
John's third CD, released in 2002 and aptly titled,
"Acoustic Country Blues Guitar" harkens back to another era,
featuring instrumental works done in the style of old-time country
blues sometimes called delta blues. The album's ragtime feel takes its
inspiration from influential artists of the 20s and 30s like Lonnie
Johnson and Robert Johnson. More modern inspiration comes from Pat
Donahue, Tommy Emmanuel and Chet Atkins.
John's music can be found on Magnatune.com
and CDBaby.com.
