A VIVATON ANNOUNCEMENT
Dave Weigand to Head Up Sales & Marketing
NASHVILLE,
TN (October 5, 2004)– Jeff Huskins, President/CEO, Vivaton
Records has announced an integral addition to the Executive Staff.
Dave Weigand officially joins the Vivaton staff as Executive
VP of Sales & Marketing. Formerly of MCA Records, Weigand
has more than 20 years experience in Marketing and Sales. Weigand
worked under the Universal Music Group umbrella, spending the last 15
years under the MCA-Nashville arm. His sales and marketing expertise
ranges from acting as local sales representative for Universal
Distribution to heading up the marketing and sales department of MCA
Nashville as their Sr. VP OF Marketing and Sales. Weigand has been
instrumental in the career development of George Strait, Reba McEntire,
Vince Gill, Trisha Yearwood, Lee Womack, Mark Chesnutt and Gary Allan.
During his tenure at MCA Nashville, the label was named Label of
the Year for the entire decade of the 90’s by Billboard and
R&R.
Dave Weigand reunites with Shelia Shipley Biddy. Biddy
and Weigand initially spent fifteen years working together at MCA
Records-Nashville.
Finalizing his decision, Jeff Huskins elaborates:
"Dave Weigand has been a major player in the country music
industry for twenty plus years. His expertise is a necessary element
to this label’s structure to enable Vivaton to be competitive. Dave
Weigand has an ear for good music and we are pleased to have him on
board.”
Dave Weigand adds, “Vivaton is an aggressive
independent label. The staff is comprised of a group of individuals
with a deep-rooted passion for good music, personal integrity,
commitment to the artists, and knowledge of the music. This label is
about the artistry, not the trends—that’s the reason that I’m
here—because of the diversity and the belief in good music.”
Vivaton officially opened its doors with a fully
staffed national and regional promotion department February 2, 2004.
The first album project released under the Vivaton imprint was
recorded by Mark Chesnutt, SAVIN’ THE HONKY TONK—September
21, 2004.
