Camerata
Graduate
Writes West Australia's Best Song!
WEST
Australian 2002 & 2003 Tamworth Camerata graduate Lauren Brede
is on cloud nine, staring down the barrel of an $8000 prize
package won in the WA Music Songwriting Awards.
Lauren graduated from the inaugural Tamworth Camerata in 2002
returning in 2003 through a scholarship from WA
Young Guns of Country Music sponsored by local business houses Colour
Copy Centre and Pronto Catering.
Lauren, who is still a
teenager, received two finalist nominations in the upper secondary
section and two in Most Outstanding Regional Song of the Year.
"At the start of
the evening they announced the secondary and I didn't get it so I
thought, 'oh well, if I didn't get that I won't get regional
song'," Lauren said.
"When they called
out that I'd won I was really surprised and excited. That prize was
for three days' recording with a studio in Perth."
Little did Lauren realize,
but the best news was yet to come.
Each
year the competition has a grand prize for Song
of the Year, which is chosen from each entry submitted from
writers of all age groups - and you guessed it, Lauren
'
s song, Time For You To Go, was the
winner.
"I
wasn't even listening when they called out my name, and then suddenly
my mum, dad and grandparents just erupted with applause," she
said.
"I
couldn't believe it. I was shaking all the way up to the stage."
The overall prize
package is worth in excess of $8000, and
includes the recording of an EP with a leading international producer
and world-class session players.
This all-inclusive
package means the artwork, photography, pressing of 500 copies, and a
film clip are all provided to Lauren to help kick start her blossoming
career.

A
& E Television’s COLD CASE FILES
Profiles "The Murder On Music Row"
With Sammy Sadler
On Tuesday, September 21 at 8 p.m. Central
Nashville,
TN (September 19, 2004) – A & E Television’s COLD CASE FILES
will air the compelling investigative story of the "Murder On
Music Row," on Tuesday, September 21 at 8 p.m. Central. The
program, titled "The Hitmakers," features an interview with,
and performance by, the only survivor of the attack - Texas recording
artist, Sammy Sadler. Sadler sings the title track from his popular
debut CD, HARD ON A HEART, on the show.
In 1989, Sammy
Sadler was a 21-year-old with a record deal and a song on the charts.
As he and friend Kevin Hughes walked to their car, they were attacked
by a masked man wearing dark clothing. The man fatally wounded Hughes
and left Sadler with life-threatening injuries that he would
eventually overcome. Nearly fifteen years would pass before that
masked gunman would be identified, tried, convicted and sentenced for
the crimes. Richard D’Antonio had attacked the two young men to
prevent Hughes from going public with details of an elaborate
chart-fixing scheme at the now-defunct trade magazine, CashBox.
Sadler has been
back in the spotlight since this year’s release of his HARD ON A
HEART. He has enjoyed two Top 15 Texas Music Chart Singles ("I
Know A Place" and "Hard On A Heart,") plus Music Row
Chart and Roots Country Chart action, and has toured extensively this
summer. He also made an August appearance at The 30th Annual North
American Victim Assistance Conference in Sacramento, California.
Sadler is the national spokesperson for the organization.

Mark Holt and
Kimberlee Holt Tully
Mark Holt and Kimberlee Holt Tully do
not really fit neatly into any specific label, and that is exactly how
they want it to be. However, they do have a very western and bluegrass
sound to their music. Joe Chernicoff from CowboyArtShow.Com
in Las Vegas describes them as a "little bit of old time, mixed
with mountain music...working together to make you believe you're
really in the west...just like it used to be!"
This brother and sister team recently released their
debut album, Acoustically Native, which was produced by Bil VornDick,
who has also worked with Alison Krauss. Dianna Watson "Kiwi
Kate" from "Hot Off the Press" radio shows in New
Zealand says "This is the most fantastic, beautiful album, I've
heard for a long time. The Instrumentation is outta this world."

Leon Seiter
Inducted into America's Old Time
Country Music Hall of Fame
Leon Seiter (pronounced Cider) was
inducted in to America's Old Time Country
Music Hall of Fame this month in Missouri Valley, IA. The induction
ceremony was held at the 29th National Old Time Country Music
Festival.
Leon has been singing in honky-tonks since the early
60's. This traditional country artist began receiving national
attention in country music circles when his record, Sentenced to Live,
received national airplay in the United States, Canada, Germany, and
France. Leon has since had five nationally charting singles, including
"You Can Always Count on Me", "Love Is Just a
Game", and "Under You Spell Again" from his current
album, In the Shadows of a Honky Tonk.
Leon has had the pleasure of opening major concert tours
across the nation with several top entertainers in the world of
country music, such as George Jones, Hank Williams Jr., Porter
Wagoner, Tanya Tucker, Tom T. Hall, Tammy Wynette, Mel Tillis, Loretta
Lynn, Little Jimmy Dickens, and Tex Ritter. Citing Hank Williams,
Ernest Tubb, Marty Robbins, and Johnny Cash as his inspirations,
Leon's songs of pain, sorrow, love, and country life are a refreshing
addition to the country pop artists on today's country radio.
Leon's wit and charm has landed him on countless
television and radio talk shows, including The Ralph Emery Show. It
also aided in his induction in to the Michigan Country Music Hall of
Fame in June of 2000.
