Stonewash Murray
Hello to everyone and welcome to the official web site
of Stonewash Murray. Stonewash's given name is
Dave
Ciarella Murray. His stage name is Stonewash Murray. He is from Sunderland in
the North East of England, but living in Wolsingham Durham at the moment.
Stonewash came from a family of 5 children which consisted of 3 boys & 2 girls.
His brothers are Peter & Tony. His sisters are Sheila and Susan. His mother is
Mary Carmella and his father is Peter Murray. He was born Friday, May 11, 1956
in Trimdon Street Sunderland. As a family they moved around a lot as the family
got bigger. His dad worked hard and so did his mom.
Stonewash started playing the guitar in the 60's. His first
guitar had cat cut nylon strings and was made by his dad. He wrote his
first song when he was 5 years old. He really got into music when he heard
Elvis and rock n roll coming from the pirate ship radio Caroline, which was
transmitting not with in the law and was closed down some years later by the
English government. In his teens he tried hard to play in bands but only played
in a few, "The Struts" and a blues band called "The Hollowing Warewolfs". But he
loved writing his own songs to much and the bands only wanted to play covers of
the Beatles, Kinks, The Who, and bands like the Free and Cream, so he played
solo for a long time. It wasn't until the early 70's that he heard a lot of
country songs on radio and on television and in films in England. Throughout the
70's many country songs were getting to England from the USA and were charting
in the English pop charts. Artist like Kenny Rogers, Charlie Pride, Johnny
Cash, Hank Williams, Marty Robins, Roger Miller, and even Elvis were charting
with country songs. The songs he heard in the 70's directed him into the world
of country music. Even today he is driven by the country songs he heard way back
then.
A few of the country artists of today are a little to much
crossover for him, even through he does like Faith Hill and Tim McGraw and Garth
Brooks even though their music fits both ends of the music business (country and
pop). He does like Alan Jackson style as he's got more of a traditional country
edge to him. He just loves coming to Country Music Planet Social Network.
Stonewash says, "The people in the chat room and on the CMP artists
site are so nice and they are fantastic artists. I'd like to say a big
thank you to Jerry Mac for supporting us unknown artists and giving us the
chance to get our music and songs heard around the world. You are one cool
artist and DJ. Jerry Mac. Thanks so much. Thanks to all you folks that visit the
